Opportunity Description

High-achieving University of Newcastle students can now apply for the South Asia Excellence Scholarship. This merit-based award honors individuals with outstanding academic credentials and motivates them to put their best efforts forward. Students who get an offer letter from the university and start their studies at the University of Newcastle will immediately be accepted into an eligible, non-quota program.

100 South Asia Excellence Scholarship Benefits

Applicants will benefit from the following values upon successful application at the University of Newcastle, Australia:

  • The scholarship is worth AUD10,000 for each year of full-time study, divided equally across the courses taken (pro-rata with an approved load reduction on the program plan, credits exemptions, progression, or well-being grounds).
  • An equal AUD 1250 per 10 units of study as a tuition fee discount against the number of credits shown in the applicant’s offer letter each term.

Eligibility Criteria for 100 South Asia Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible for the South Asia Excellence Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a passport from a South Asian eligible country.
  • Begin studies at the University of Newcastle in an appropriate undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program (excluding ELICOS, Non-Award, Enabling, and Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
  • Be a full-fee-paying international student.
  • As the Letter of Offer specifies, applicants must start an approved program at an Australian or online campus.
  • Applicants should not be the recipient of a separate Institution scholarship unless they have received previous clearance from the University for a specific dispensation.
  • Meet all financial commitments of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition charge and additional expenses to obtain their student visa, and if their scholarship eligibility is not maintained.
  • Applicants should not enroll in a quota-exempt program.

  • Medical Radiation Science (Honors) (Diagnostic Radiography)
  • Oral Health Therapy
  • Medical Radiation Science (Honors) (Nuclear Medicine)
  • Bachelor of Podiatry
  • Medical Radiation Science (Honors) (Radiation Therapy)
  • Physiotherapy (Honours)
  • Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine

How to apply for 100 South Asia Excellence Scholarship at the University of Newcastle?

This scholarship does not require an application. Scholarships are automatically applied for when they apply to University (where they meet eligibility criteria). Successful students will receive notifications of the value of their scholarship and their offer letter and should review the complete terms and conditions, informing the institution if they do not wish to accept.

 

NOTE: The following category of students are not eligible to apply:

  • Students who do not get a scholarship offer will not be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Internal transfer students studying at an Australian or online school who have not previously received the scholarship will likewise be ineligible.
