The Semiconduct Scholarship is an opportunity that is open to students who are enrolled in a postgraduate program focused on semiconductor research at one of the following universities in Taiwan: NCKU, NTU, NTHU, NYCU, or NSYSU. The program provides a full tuition fee, a stipend, and round-trip airfare to and from Taiwan for awardees.
About the National Cheng Kung University
National Cheng Kung University is a renowned public research university situated in Tainan, Taiwan. Engineering, computer science, medicine, and planning and design are the university’s most notable areas of expertise.
NCKU, one of the top universities in Taiwan, has been instrumental in the creation of the Taiwan Miracle, playing a crucial role in transforming Taiwan from an agriculture-based society to an industrialized economy during the 1960s and 1970s. This transformation led Taiwan to become one of the Four Asian Tigers.

National Cheng Kung University Scholarship Application Process
- To apply, applicants should begin by registering online. The online application form for admission to National Cheng Kung University, titled “Application for Admission,” can then be completed electronically.
- To be eligible for admission to NCKU, applicants must apply for programs related to semiconductors. This includes all programs of the AISSM as well as eligible departments and institutes in EECS, Engineering, and Science that offer semiconductor-related fields of study.
- In addition, strong proficiency in the English language is necessary for admission to universities in Taiwan. Applicants must complete the TOEFL exam and achieve a minimum score of 72.
Documents required for the National Cheng Kung University Scholarship
To complete the application, applicants are required to provide the following supporting documents:
Declaration Form: Applicants must download the ‘Declaration’ form from the website, print it, sign it, and upload a scanned copy.
Highest degree diploma: A copy of the applicant’s highest degree diploma must be submitted.
Official transcripts by year: Applicants must provide official transcripts for each year of their academic studies.
Financial statement: A financial statement indicating the applicant’s ability to support themselves during their studies must be provided.
To apply for our program, we require two recommendation letters, as well as certain documentation. This includes a valid ID, such as an identity card or passport, and, if available, a ROC alien resident certificate. Additionally, we need the Certificate of R.O.C. Non-Household Registration or other applicable credentials.
Applicants should also provide a study plan, an English or Chinese autobiography, and, for those applying to a PhD program, an academic thesis or relevant publications. Some departments or institutes may have additional requirements that need to be fulfilled as well.
