Requirements and Eligibility Criteria for the Article 26 Scholarship
To be eligible for the University of Sussex Article 26 Scholarship, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Applicants should have received an offer letter to study for a bachelor’s degree at Sussex.
- Foundation, Year 1, or Year 2 candidates can apply.
- The applicant must have submitted or depend on someone who has applied to the UK Home Office for recognition as a Refugee.
- Hold a temporary form of leave to stay in the United Kingdom with an asylum application.
- Applicant can be migrant who is not eligible for funding from Student Finance England
- Alternatively, the applicant can be a partner or child of an asylum-seeker applicant or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child.
- Demonstrate a household income of less than £25,000.
- They cannot access the UK government’s student financial support because of their current immigration status.
Who Are Not Eligible?
Applicants are not eligible for this scholarship if they are:
- Applying for a Degree at a university other than the University of Sussex
- Going to the final year of a degree at Sussex
- Studying an online course
- Undertaking one of the Excluded courses listed below.
Excluded Courses:
Applicants who are going to study any of the following fields are not eligible for the Article 26 Scholarship 2023:
- Diplomas and Certificates, including Postgraduate Certificate of Education.
- Studying courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
- If receiving a National Health Service (NHS) bursary and following degrees in social work
- Undertaking an online course
- Schools direct teaching courses
